Dede Cummings, of Brattleboro, says she lives every day knowing that the digestive ailment that turned her life upside down in 2001, Crohn's disease, could return even though surgery helped put her into remission. The chronic pain, side effects from the medications, hospitalizations and doctor appointments left her overwhelmed and isolated. But she's not sitting back and waiting. She's written a new book to help others living with Crohn's, and she's raising money for research by training for a half-marathon in Boston next weekend.
